The fact that less than ten percent of music played or served to Australian is by local acts is a statistic that doesn’t lie. As Ben Lee puts it in our Algorithmia film “..this machine is obviously rigged.” So we created a campaign to appeal to the anti-establishment nature of Aussies to get them to Search, Listen &amp; Defy the average. Because the more people seek out local artists the more they can change the shape of their algorithms to favour the Aussie music scene. Knowing that Aussies engage more with cultural movements than political ones, we reframed the event as a highly anticipated aging rock band’s farewell tour, complete with video promo, rock band poster, t-shirts, tea towels and commemorative coasters and a petition disguised as a concert ticket. Our approach didn’t just get the client on every news outlet here but also across Asia, Europe and the USA with our key visual becoming the poster child for debate about the future of the monarchy.
